Post Pandemic/Making Memories Road trip Summer 2021

  We had heard there were long lines entering the park so we decided to enter through the North East Entrance which is not as heavily traveled.  But first, we had to travel the steep and winding roads of Bear Tooth Highway.  Fists clenched thru the white knuckled drive we had some of the most amazing views!  The grade was steep and certainly tested our brakes!  We also had to be aware of free range cattle that were along the roadside along with the huge Black Crows!  There were warning signs about the birds which I thought read Black Clowns!  This ended up being a joke for us the entire stay.  Anyway, I was thankful to finally see the entrance to the park! We entered thru the quaint town of Silver Gate in Montana with its western decor filled with saloons and shops.  Once past the town we entered Wyoming and were greeted by a fairly large herd of Bison!  They were alongside the road and up in the hills.  Beautiful massive creatures....

 After a beautiful drive thru Spearfish Canyon scenic drive we were on our way to Yellowstone!  Driving the RV and traveling with dogs always takes longer and it seemed to take forever to reach out destination. We drove well into the evening on a 2 lane road through Reservation Land.  Beautiful open spaces!  We settled in for the night at a Love's truck stop with plans to visit Little Big Horn in the morning.  Oliver and Valor have become best buddies on this trip and they keep each other company on the long drives. We arrived at the battlefield when it opened and quickly joined in on a ranger talk about Custer's Last Stand.  It was well presented and very informative.  This battle was the 2nd and last victory of the American Indian. It memorializes one of the last armed efforts of the Northern Plains Indians to preserve their ancestral way of life.  Here in the valley of the Little Bighorn River on 2 hot days in June in 1876, more than 260 soldie...

AMAZING!!  THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!  We arrived late morning and secured campsites for the next two nights.  Our first stop was Wall.  Apparently back in the 1930's it was a small drug store, and most likely the only one.  It has grown into a city block with trinkets and trash and even a small diner.  It was fun to explore but was certainly a touristy thing.  After a few hours, we headed to the National Park.                                       Oliver's fortune says he has much happiness in his future!                                                       Just one more thing to worry about We drove the RV along the steep and winding scenic drive.  There were many places to stop along the way and take in the views or hike...
