Electric bikes to Harbor Springs

 Oliver could barely contain himself with excited about riding an electric bike for the first time.  It took a bit of adjusting to them as they are cumbersome and heavy.  But after a few test runs we were on our way to downtown Petosky and then circle back headed towards Harbor Springs.  It was a warmer day than we had previously so it was nice to have the peddle assist of the electric bikes for the 20 plus mile roundtrip ride.

Harbor springs oozes wealth, the scenery on this side of the bay was gorgeous....almost too perfect.  Huge yachts lined the harbor and the homes overlooking the water were breathtaking.

The homes were all well manicured, almost too perfect.  But, they were beautiful to observe
                                            The neighborhood reminded me of The Stepford Wives.

We tried to find a restaurant to have lunch lines were out the door.  So, we sat on a bench on main street and ate some snacks we brought in our backpacks while we people watched.  


It was an enjoyable day.  We headed back on our bikes to our favorite brewery in Petosky, had a nice late lunch and headed back to the RV.  All in all, we biked close to 30 miles and were happy to be back at camp.

Petosky, Michigan

We arrived in Petosky early afternoon.  We were fortunate enough to get one of the best campsites at the KOA.  Treed lot and secluded!  After setting up "Gwen".....the name of our RV, which has a funny story behind it.  Our last RV was a Newmar Kountry Star that we named Miranda, after the country singer Miranda Lambert.  So, it seemed fitting to name our newest RV "Gwen" after Blake Shelton's newest love.  We hoped on our bikes and headed out to explore a bit.  Oliver found a great bike trail that leads to downtown Petosky a few miles out.  We decided to plan that for tomorrow when we can be better equipped as we didn't even have water with us.                         We did find a nice nature trail in a marsh land where we bird watched for a bit                             The next morning we hopped back on our bikes ...

Yellowstone National Park

  We had heard there were long lines entering the park so we decided to enter through the North East Entrance which is not as heavily traveled.  But first, we had to travel the steep and winding roads of Bear Tooth Highway.  Fists clenched thru the white knuckled drive we had some of the most amazing views!  The grade was steep and certainly tested our brakes!  We also had to be aware of free range cattle that were along the roadside along with the huge Black Crows!  There were warning signs about the birds which I thought read Black Clowns!  This ended up being a joke for us the entire stay.  Anyway, I was thankful to finally see the entrance to the park! We entered thru the quaint town of Silver Gate in Montana with its western decor filled with saloons and shops.  Once past the town we entered Wyoming and were greeted by a fairly large herd of Bison!  They were alongside the road and up in the hills.  Beautiful massive creatures....

The Badlands

AMAZING!!  THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!  We arrived late morning and secured campsites for the next two nights.  Our first stop was Wall.  Apparently back in the 1930's it was a small drug store, and most likely the only one.  It has grown into a city block with trinkets and trash and even a small diner.  It was fun to explore but was certainly a touristy thing.  After a few hours, we headed to the National Park.                                       Oliver's fortune says he has much happiness in his future!                                                       Just one more thing to worry about We drove the RV along the steep and winding scenic drive.  There were many places to stop along the way and take in the views or hike...
